About the Look. Foundation

The Look. Foundation is dedicated to changing the course of mental health by ensuring that no child or young adult with PANS/PANDAS is missed. Our goal is to serve as a catalyst for change in how infectious-triggered neuropsychiatric disorders are approached, treated, researched, and financially supported.

Swift, appropriate care

Equal access to swift and appropriate diagnosis, treatment, and care.

What are PANS & PANDAS?

PANS and PANDAS occur when a child's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells following an infection โ€” like strep throat โ€” causing brain inflammation. The result is a sudden, often alarming shift: severe anxiety, aggression, irritability, or motor and sensory changes that seem to appear overnight.

Many parents describe watching their child transform into someone they don't recognize โ€” and then struggling to find a doctor who takes it seriously. Even when they find a knowledgeable provider, most treatment isn't covered by insurance โ€” the path to recovery can be long, emotionally grueling, and financially devastating.

1 in 200

children are estimated to be affected by PANS/PANDAS.

Most

pediatricians receive no training in diagnosing or treating it โ€” leading to misdiagnosis or dismissal.

How We Help

On top of managing their childโ€™s new symptoms and behaviors, families must try to understand PANS/PANDAS and determine an informed course of action. Itโ€™s beyond overwhelming. The Look. Foundation was created to help parents and caregivers navigate this difficult process and access the support and resources they need. This is done by:

Resources & emotional support

For parents and caregivers navigating a diagnosis no one prepared them for.

Look.-ing To Make A Difference?

The Look. Foundation networkโ€”what we refer to as The Village of Hopeโ€”provides support, mentorship, and friendship to families fighting their way through the PANS/PANDAS maze. Our Village is made up of the Look. Team, parents, and selfless volunteers who donate their time to help us realize our mission. We are living proof that a COMMUNITY can change lives and a VILLAGE can move mountains.

If youโ€™ve been touched by PANS and PANDAS personally or through reading stories from our families, we invite you to become part of our volunteer brigade.
